Your Board of Directors Should Attend Your Annual NYS Mandated Sexual Harassment Prevention Training in Business and at Work

As I continue to conduct the NYS-Mandated Annual Sexual Harassment Training for employees and their managers, several of my clients are also inviting Board of Directors members and volunteers – particularly those organizations who work with vulnerable populations like minor children.

This strategy is spot on, particularly when the CEO or Executive Director is the subject of a harassment complaint and investigation. As the CEO’s supervisor, the Board of Directors is completely responsible for, among other key governance responsibilities, a harassment-free environment for all employees; and that when harassment occurs, to stop it immediately.

As you ensure that your employees and managers are trained to meet this year’s October 9, 2019 deadline for your organization’s first annual training, are members of your Board of Directors also attending your annual NYS Mandated Sexual (and Other) Harassment Prevention Training in business and at work?
