Each New Hire Should Receive the New NYS-Mandated Sexual Harassment Documents in Business and at Work

In the rush to implement the new NYS Sexual Harassment Prevention requirements for employers as of October 9, 2018, it’s important to remember to distribute the required documents to all of your new hires with all of the other required New Hire paperwork as of October 9, 2018 and going forward:

Distribute the NYS Model Policy & Complaint Form  – Include at least 1 Internal and 1 external 3rd party complaint / investigation contact (cell phone number recommended for voice & text)

Signed Employee Receipt Acknowledgment Strongly Recommended:

The documents can be distributed hard-copy or electronically; it’s strongly recommended that you obtain a signed receipt acknowledgment from each employee in the event of future audit, potentially carrying similar audit importance to the Wage Theft Protection Act Form.

Provide the Mandated Sexual Harassment Training “As Soon As Possible” to Your New Hires

And finally: while the final NYS regulations instruct employers to conduct their first annual Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for employees by October 2019, the regulations also direct employers to provide the NYS mandated training “as soon as possible.”

Have you ensured that each new hire receives the new NYS-Mandated Sexual Harassment documents (and have you made plans for their NYS-mandated sexual harassment prevention training) in business and at work?
