Before You Reopen, Ensure That You Send the Online NY Forward Interim Guidance Affirmation

I visited a client / colleague last week who’s poised to reopen as part of New York Forward’s Phase 2.

They’ve completed their mandated business Safety Plan as part of New York Forward Opening. I then asked if they’ve also completed and sent in their online Affirmation that they’ve reviewed the detailed guidelines for their sector (Different sectors have different Interim Guidance Online Affirmation documents – for your sector, please consult the NY Forward website for Phases 1 & 2, currently open in all regions except for NYC, which begins Phase 1 Monday, June 8th).

They had been focused on putting together their NY Forward Safety Plan, but not completing the affirmation, which is another key step before reopening. “I thought I didn’t have to send in the Safety Plan, just get it done before I open my doors,” they said.

“It’s an important additional document that NYS needs you to electronically acknowledge and submit before you reopen,” I replied, showing them the last page of the Interim Guidance Affirmation. “Including but not limited to what you must communicate to employees on the last page, below, as well as the Guidelines listed in the Interim Guidance Affirmation.”

EMPLOYER PLANS

Responsible Parties must conspicuously post completed safety plans on site. The State has made available a business reopening safety plan template to guide business owners and operators in developing plans to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
