Check the Math on the 2019 Upstate NYS Minimum Exempt Salary Level in Business and at Work

As we all gradually return from our respective holiday respites, I heard from a trusted HR colleague just after the New Year last week whose CFO (thank goodness for our partner CFOs!) checked the math on the new 2019 weekly Upstate NYS Minimum Exempt Salary Level, which is defined as 75 times the current minimum wage – which for upstate NYS is $11.10 an hour effective December 31, 2018.

$11.10 x 75 = $832.50 per week

 

is the 2019 minimum Upstate NYS exempt week salary threshold.

 

The NYS DOL website is finally displaying the accurate weekly minimum exempt salary level amount above – their initial (mis)calculation last week was short by 50 cents.
